AEO & GEO Agency in Manchester
Answer Engine Optimisation and Generative Engine Optimisation for Manchester and UK businesses. We help ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot find, understand and recommend you.
- Manchester-based, UK-wide
- Built on SEO foundations
- No guaranteed citations, ever

What AEO & GEO services are
An answer engine does not return a list of links. It reads several sources, selects passages and writes one response, often naming a few businesses. Two jobs follow from that.
AEO structures your content and entity signals so answer engines can extract and quote you. GEO improves how generative AI systems describe, cite and recommend your brand: mentions, corroboration, consistent facts and citations across the web.
We sell them as one service because the work overlaps. Neither replaces SEO.
What answer engine optimisation is, in fullAnatomy of an AI answer
Here is an invented example, to show which parts of a business an assistant can use.
Who is the best tyre fitter near Gorton?
Example Tyres is a family-run tyre fitter in Gorton, Manchester, offering same-day fitting and free tyre checks. Customers describe it as quick and fairly priced.1 It is open six days a week and takes bookings online.2
- example-tyres.co.uk
- Google Business Profile
- local directory
Illustrative example
- Clear entity The name, service and place are stated the same way everywhere, so the assistant is confident who it is describing.
- Answer-first passage The website opens with the direct answer, so the sentence can be lifted out whole.
- Structured data Markup helps systems tell this business apart from similarly named ones. It helps clarity; it is not a requirement for citation.
- Corroborating mentions Directories and local sites repeat the same facts, which gives the assistant more than one source to trust.
- Fresh reviews Recent, genuine reviews support claims such as “quick and fairly priced”.
Where your customers are asking
We check and track your visibility across the assistants people actually use. Results differ between them, so we measure each separately.

Answer surfaces we optimise for
Customers now get answers in several places. Each one reads and chooses sources differently, so we plan and measure for each.
- ChatGPT
- Conversational answers that can draw on web search and name businesses directly. We work on clear entity facts, quotable passages and crawler access.
- Google AI Overviews and AI Mode
- Summaries inside Google Search that link to supporting pages. Strong SEO foundations and answer-first content are the entry point.
- Gemini
- Google’s assistant, which leans on Google’s index and business data. Consistent listings and a well-kept Google Business Profile matter here.
- Perplexity
- An answer engine that shows its sources for each response. Pages that state facts plainly and are corroborated elsewhere are easier to cite.
- Copilot
- Microsoft’s assistant, which draws on Bing’s index. We check Bing visibility and crawl access alongside Google.
- Voice assistants
- Spoken answers are short and usually come from one source. Concise, direct answers and accurate local details give them something reliable to read out.
- AI agents
- Software that browses, compares and sometimes acts for a user. Clear structure, readable pricing and obvious contact and booking routes help an agent understand what you offer.
What our AEO & GEO work includes
Scope depends on your plan. These are the workstreams.
- AI visibility audit and prompt tracking
- A set of prompts that reflects how your customers ask, run across the main assistants on a schedule. It gives you a baseline and a trend line, and shows where competitors appear instead of you.
- Entity and brand consistency
- We define who you are, what you offer and where you operate, then align the wording across your website, social profiles, listings and directories.
- Answer-first content
- Each key page opens with the direct answer, then adds context and proof, so passages still make sense when lifted out of the page.
- Structured data
- Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, Article and Person markup where it fits. It disambiguates entities. Google has said structured data is not required for its AI features, so we treat it as clarity, not a lever.
- Digital PR, citations and mentions
- AI systems weigh what other sources say about you. We pursue genuine coverage on trade sites, directories, partners and communities. We do not buy fake reviews or fabricate mentions.
- Google Business Profile and reviews
- For local businesses, assistants draw on listings and reviews. We tidy the profile and set up a steady, honest review process.
- AI crawler access and llms.txt
- We check AI crawlers can reach your key pages and are not blocked by accident. We can add an llms.txt file as a low-cost extra, but no major provider has confirmed it improves citations, so it is a minor item.
- Technical SEO foundations
- Crawlable, fast, well-linked pages. A page that search engines cannot reach rarely becomes a source for an AI answer.
Our AEO & GEO process
Five stages. Each one ends with something you can review.
Audit
We run your priority prompts, record where you appear, and review your site, entity details and competitors.
Foundations
We fix crawl access, technical issues and inconsistent business details.
Content
We rewrite or create priority pages with answer-first sections, then add structured data.
Mentions
We build genuine third-party coverage. Brand signals build over months, not days.
Track
We re-run prompts, watch AI referral traffic and report in plain English, then change one thing at a time.
AEO & GEO compared with SEO
Different goals and measures, shared foundations. We run them together.
| Area | SEO | AEO & GEO |
|---|---|---|

| Unit of work | The page | The passage, the entity and the brand |
| Main levers | Technical health, content, links | Answer-first writing, consistent facts, corroborating mentions |

| Measured by | Rankings, clicks, enquiries | Mentions and citations across a fixed prompt set, AI referral traffic |

How we measure AI visibility
AI answers vary by user, location, model version and time, so any measurement is a sample, not a census. We say so in every report.
- Prompt tracking: your priority questions, run on a schedule across the main assistants.
- AI referral traffic: visits arriving from assistants, reported separately in analytics.
- Branded search and enquiries, read as trends over months.
AI Overview appearances often earn fewer clicks than classic search results, which is why we measure mentions and enquiries, not just traffic.
We cannot promise any assistant will mention you. We improve the conditions that make it more likely. Read our AI visibility audit methodology for exactly how we test.
How AI search visibility is measuredWho AEO & GEO services suit
It pays back fastest where customers research before they buy and ask an assistant to compare options.
- Professional and B2B services
- Buyers compare providers and ask detailed questions. Clear service descriptions and credible third-party mentions help assistants recommend the right firms.
- Local and regional businesses
- “Best in” and “near me” prompts draw on listings, reviews and website content, so consistent business details matter.
- Specialist retailers and manufacturers
- Detailed specifications and comparisons give assistants accurate material to quote.
If your customers rarely research online, or your market is very small, we will say so in the audit rather than sell you a programme you do not need.

What we will and will not do
AI visibility is a young field, and some tactics sold under the AEO and GEO label put your reputation at risk. Our line is simple.
- We will
- Make your pages clear and quotable, keep your business details consistent, earn real mentions from relevant sources and report what we find, including when the data is thin.
- We will not
- Promise citations or rankings, buy fake reviews, fabricate mentions, hide text for crawlers or flood forums with manufactured posts. Assistants and search engines are getting better at spotting this, and it can harm your brand.
- We will say
- When something has no proven effect. Where evidence is mixed, such as llms.txt, we tell you so and keep the cost low.
Search still matters alongside AI. Many AI answers that cite web pages retrieve them through search indexes such as Google’s and Bing’s, so strong SEO remains the entry price. That is why every plan includes the SEO foundations.

AEO & GEO across Greater Manchester
FlyRank is a Manchester AEO & GEO agency led by its founder, Hassan Gillani. We work with businesses across Greater Manchester and throughout the UK, and most of the work is done remotely, so location rarely limits who we can help.
Locally, we work with firms in Manchester city centre, Salford, Trafford, Stockport, Oldham, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Tameside and Wigan, and on the Cheshire East edge. That covers business districts such as Ancoats, the Northern Quarter, Spinningfields and MediaCityUK, as well as smaller high streets and industrial estates, where a single accurate listing can matter as much as a big brand.
Local detail is where assistants most often go wrong. When someone asks for a plumber in Salford, an accountant near Spinningfields or a restaurant in the Northern Quarter, the answer draws on listings, reviews and website content. If the name, address, opening hours or service area differ between those sources, the assistant has less reason to trust any of them. Much of our Manchester work is therefore careful, unglamorous consistency: one clear description of what you do and where, repeated accurately everywhere it appears.
The entity work is the same whether you serve a single postcode or the whole country. We define the business, the places it serves and the services it sells, publish that clearly on your site, and align your Google Business Profile, directory listings and other profiles to match. For multi-area businesses we build separate, useful pages for each service and place rather than copying one page with the town name swapped.
If you are in Greater Manchester, we can meet in person. If you are elsewhere in the UK, we work by video and email. Either way, the starting point is the same: a free AI visibility audit, so you can see where you stand before spending anything. Prices are on our pricing page.
